Little Bernie and sponsor Mastercard give €250.000 to WFP (NL)

PRESS RELEASE

12 July 2023

A travel guide for children in Amsterdam helps WFP delivering school meals in countries where needs are the greatest

A travel guide for children in Amsterdam will be launched on July 12: Little Bernie visits Amsterdam. At the launch of the book in Artis Zoo, Mastercard will donate 250,000 euros to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP). This will support WFP in providing school meals to vulnerable children in communities where needs are the greatest.

The publisher says the Little Bernie visits Amsterdam travel guide meets a growing need of traveling families to Amsterdam. At the same time, with the book and its launch on July 12 at Artis Zoo, the publisher wants to draw attention to millions of children worldwide who do not have enough to eat.

Thanks to Little Bernie’s partner Mastercard, 250,000 euros will be donated to WFP to mark the book launch.  With six decades of experience, WFP is the largest humanitarian organisation implementing school feeding. By providing children around a world with a nutritious school meal, WFP helps children stay healthy, attend school and be ready to learn. “WFP goes beyond the plate of food:  school meals can generate a lasting impact that can shape the future of entire communities.” Müller said. With Mastercard’s donation of 250,000 euros, WFP will be receiving the value of 1,250,000 million school meals.

Little Bernie visits Amsterdam is a collaboration of nearly 50 four- and five-star hotels, museums and travel agencies. The book is offered internationally at bookstores and souvenir shops. At the same time, Little Bernie’s online platform has a solid reach, especially among affluent travelers. The publisher wants to use that network to draw attention to Mastercard’s partnership with WFP, focused on the transformational power of school meals.

Publisher Müller itself wants to donate a portion of his profits made from sales of his travel guide to WFP (10% of the revenue of each Little Bernie book). Little Bernie visits Amsterdam will appear this year in a print run of 65,000 copies.
