Amsterdam Museum

Over the next few years, our main location at the Burgerweeshuis on the Kalverstraat will be undergoing renovation. In the meantime, we can be found at Amstel 51, online, and at other locations in Amsterdam.

The new Amsterdam Museum will be an open, friendly place where visitors and residents can get to know Amsterdam in a museum setting that is closely connected to the neighborhood, the city, and its inhabitants. We are recalibrating the city museum for the coming decades, as well as restoring the impressive monument that houses it.

The new Amsterdam Museum—an extensive project by the Municipality of Amsterdam, Neutelings Riedijk Architecten, and the Amsterdam Museum—will enjoy expanded and improved space for the collection and its visitors, enhanced accessibility, more visibility, and better sustainability. In this new phase in the historic complex’s long history, the museum will soon reopen its doors to even more residents and visitors of Amsterdam
